JimmyJane Form 6 – Sex Toy Review
So, I won the JimmyJane Form 6 in a social media ‘share to win’ style contest hosted by Venus Unveiled one of the local adult boutique stores in Minneapolis. They mostly specialize in sky-high stripper heels (which is where I’ve bought most of my pole dancing shoes), club wear and lingerie, although they have been branching out into sex toys and have added a nice little corner of (mostly) quality toys to the store. I had mixed feelings about winning this contest… I mean… first of all “YAY I WON SOMETHING” I feel like I very rarely win anything… I have the worst luck… but also when they revealed to me that the prize was the JimmyJane Form 6 my heart sank just a little (because I’m an ungrateful snot). I have have heard so many mixed reviews on the Form 6, and while some people do seem to genuinely like it, those who hated it REALLY seemed to hate it. So I was kind of nervous about my prize… I wanted to win something that would take me to orgasm city, where I could live forever and frolic in the clitoris forest hand in hand with my new vibrator! I also know that since it was just something I won, I am in no way obligated to review said JimmyJane Form 6… but I have to… I just have to… I feel like if I don’t write about a sex toy… does that sex toy even really exist?
I hate this vibrator. There, I said it. I hate it. I also hate that I am jumping on the “I hate the JimmyJane Form 6 bandwagon” but here I am, on the internet, with all the cool kids, hatin’ on the Form 6. When I put this toy down on my clit for the first time it literally cried and called CPS (clitoris protective services) on me. I feel bad for doing this to myself, I should have listed to all those who came before and said “don’t do it.”
Maybe I’m being to harsh on the poor Form 6 (doubtful), but it was the only toy I had packed with me on a recent overnight trip (because I was thinking “hey, this is small enough to fit in my bag and I can get some sex toy testing done, awesome!”) and it really let me down. I was left in my hotel room with zero orgasms and nothing to watch on tv. Both of those problems I’m going to go ahead and blame on the JimmyJane Form 6. Okay, I can’t exactly say zero orgasms, once it became abundantly clear that I was going to get absolutely nowhere with the Form 6 I switched to my hand. That’s right, I had to masturbate with my hand… like a peasant! The orgasm was sub-par at best (I’ve been too spoiled by high powered vibrators, I don’t even know how to masturbate manually anymore) and I was grumpy. Now I am taking it out on the JimmyJane Form 6.
My mom always said when criticizing someone/something, lead off with some pleasant things first… it helps soften the blow. Because I love my momma, I’ll try to do that. One thing that I really like about the JimmyJame Form 6 is that it is covered in silicone. Silicone is body-safe, which means that even though this vibrator is giving me terrible (zero) orgasms, it is at least not also leeching chemicals into my body as well. The silicone is very matte and picks up every piece of lint it can find, it may be a shitty sex toy…but maybe it has a future as a lint roller? Also, the silicone is very draggy, so use plenty of lube or risk road rash on your muff. So, there is that. Also, it is rechargeable, which is awesome. If this vibrator has to exist, it is at least not gobbling up batteries and we can call it more eco-friendly than some other vibrators out there. Also, waterproof! The JimmyJane Form 6 is waterproof, which means you could take it with you into the shower or the bathtub for some water fun (I use the term fun quite loosely here…). So, even though I personally hate the Form 6… it does have some minor luxuries built into its design.
Right off the bat, I am really disappointed in the price of the JimmyJane Form 6 as well, I think part of why I hate this toy so much is that at $180ish (depending on where you purchase the toy) I expected so much more from it. With that kind of money in a vibrator, I want strong, deep, rumbly vibration. Instead, what I ended up with was a vibrator with (if I’m generous) moderately powerful and mostly buzzy vibrations. Which is something I can easily get from a toy half its price. Something this expensive should offer up an experience worth the money, there is just no excuse for how pathetic this toy turned out. Another option would be to lower the price point, if you would have told me this was a $30 vibrator, my expectations would have been much lower and maybe I could forgive the crap-tastic nature of this toy by saying “well, it’s actually pretty good for the price.” But at it’s current price tag… you better believe I’m expecting something fucking magical.
In theory, I honestly think that the JimmyJane Form 6 sounds like a good idea (but clearly something went wrong in the actual execution of this toy). I really can see the appeal to the diversity it claims to offer with it’s usable dual ends (more is better right?). Each of the Form 6’s ends can be used for both clitoral and internal play… sounds cool. Buuuuut this is one vibrator that probably shouldn’t have left the drawing board. The smaller end of the Form 6 is capable of hitting my g-spot (I’ll give it that much), but it didn’t do jack shit for me… there was just not enough power in the vibration for anything to really come of it. The larger end is good for… I guess clenching? Thrusting? Providing broad stimulation across your clit? The larger end of the Form 6 tops out with a circumference of five inches at its largest point, so pretty average girth… which means there really isn’t anything stand out special about the toys size. The smaller, curved end has a circumference of around four inches and pretty much the same story… pretty average, nothing to really make me say “wow!” The whole shape of the toy and the smooth silicone combined with the complete lack of power make the whole thing… boring. Like, I’m pretty sure I heard my vagina yawn with each lackluster thrust of this toy. Because I try to be thorough I ended up using this toy a few times, because I don’t want to be harsh on a toy if it’s just me having one bad day… it sucked every time. My vagina would rather get a pap smear from a dude with weirdly warm, moist hands then use this vibrator again.
This toy also possesses dual motors. Which again, sounds awesome in theory… yet somehow, JimmyJane forked that one up too. Dual motors always sounds like it should be a great thing to me, more motors equal more power right? Or at the very least, with two motors running, there should be a deeper, more rumbly quality of vibration, right? Somehow, neither of these are true with the Form 6… in fact, these two motors just made the Form 6 twice as terrible and delivered twice the amount of disappointment. Also, while we are the topic of dual motors… if you are going to use dual motors, how about allowing me to operate them independently? I know the technology exists… I have shitty rabbit vibrators that cost half as much that managed to pull that much off. If I am only using the curved, g-spot end, why should we also be vibrating my hand into oblivion with the other end? This is all no bueno.
Okay… now here is where things really start to fall apart for me. Let’s say you actually enjoy using the larger end internally. Awesome, insert that sucker and go to town… now, let’s say that you had the vibrations on low, but now that you are warmed up you are ready to ramp the action up… so you reach down between your legs to adjust the settings… and lo and behold… WHERE HAVE THE BUTTONS GONE? Oh, that’s right … THEY ARE FUCKING INSIDE YOU! Yep… if you insert the larger end of the toy… the buttons disappear off into vagina space where you either have to pull the vagina goo covered object out to adjust the settings or just say “fuck it” and deal with only one vibration setting the whole time. Obviously the buttons had to go somewhere… but if you are marketing this as a dual ended toy… maybe offer a remote control? I feel like at $180 (give or take a few bucks) you could have offered up a fucking remote control! Also, the buttons are hard to press and hard to find. Sorry, three strikes and you’re out (of my vagina).
When the buttons aren’t hidden away inside your vagina, they are reasonably easy to operate (other than being hard to push). To turn the Form 6 on, press down on the (+) button and the toy will start vibrating. Continuing to push the (+) button will increase the toy’s intensity. It has five levels of increasing intensity… all of which are buzzy and made my clit cry in sheer disappointment. When you have come to your senses and have decided you have had enough, you can turn the toy off by pressing and holding the (-) button. And of course the (-) is also how you can back down the intensity should you desire. If for whatever reason you decide to explore the patterns, you will find them by pressing the squiggly line button, continuing to press it will cycle you through the From 6’s six different vibration modes, from fast and pulsating to slow and undulating… all of which are terrible. Most of the patterns are just the toy bouncing between the two different motors… which is essentially useless… because unless you managed to shove the whole fricking thing up your vagina, you won’t really feel the second motor in any meaningful way.
Also, let’s talk about the giant, honkin’ seam running the length of the Form 6. Why? Why is it there? It is super prominent, like… I can actually feel it rubbing against my vagina when I insert the toy… I don’t need that kind of nonsense in my life. I feel like I’m probably just nitpicking at this point… but seriously, if you are charging what is practically $200 bucks for this vibrator… couldn’t you afford to not have the seam? I mean really… once again, I point to vibes way cheaper that have managed to be seamless. Look, even this cheap, battery powered Joupie managed to be seamless (and more satisfying). This whole toy is just poorly thought out and poorly executed. Pull yourselves together JimmyJane, you have managed some decent toys… why did you drop the ball on this one?!
So, do I recommend the JimmyJane Form 6? Why would you even ask me that question? No, of course I don’t. It is way to damn expensive for me to even say “oh, well… if you like weak vibrators, you might enjoy it.” Nope… there is no reason anyone should ever buy this toy, not at this price, and not with the way it currently functions. Trust me, you are not missing out on anything by skipping this one.
But, because people are funny creatures, I’m going to go ahead and link where you could buy it… in case you are shopping for a toy that will just really disappoint you while spending as much money as possible. Or, if you are looking for a vibrator to send to your worst enemy… I guess you could pick one up from Stockroom, they will be happy to take your money and be rid of one more JimmyJane Form 6 taking up space in their inventory.
Also, I would like to say… my absolute dislike of this toy in no way reflects my opinion of Venus Unveiled, they are really cool people with a pretty cool little store (just around the corner from Smitten Kitten and next door to Bondesque) they just had a lapse in good judgement and gave away a shitty toy. Okay, I guess I can’t blame them for giving away the JimmyJane Form 6 as a prize, the toy is so bad you have to literally give it away to get rid of it…
